#9 possible claims
#1) Technology and its over uses, I believe technology is consuming us. Where once we had people getting to know one another, now we have white wires hanging from our ears blocking out what the world has to say/offer.
#2) Education, and the raising costs of tuition. Makes it almost impossible to get a degree in the time offered, without owing $1,000's of dollars. Where we have people with no education getting anywhere from 10-15 dollars an hour.
#3) Tattoos and piercings used to be looked down apon, but as now we are easily accepting them. Even parents are allowing their minor children to get them.

Hi Elise! Nice start! I think Thesis #2 is standing out to me as an interesting possibility for you paper. Thesis #1 would work, but it sounds a little too close to the argument made by Andrew Sullivan in the iPod World article. Unless you can build on/add to his argument in some way, it will end up sounding like a lot of summary of his ideas. Thesis #3 could potentially work, but right now it sounds more like a statement of fact than a point of view. If you were to dig deeper and make a claim about "why" this is happening, rather than merely stating that it is, you might get closer to a juicy claim here. Thesis #2, however, does have a point of view that is different and arguable. I can see you connecting this idea to the Malcolm X reading pretty easier- forwarding his claim that colleges have too many distractions for students, etc. You could take this idea a step further by bringing it into the 21st century educational system, suggesting that not only does it create a host of unnecessary work on distractions, but that the cost financially far outweighs the potential for a successful outcome and that we need to have some major changes in the way our higher education works (perhaps technology is one way we can do this?) I'm looking forward to seeing where you take this! Good luck!
